‘Basic Body Piercing’ promises to teach the apprentice piercers the proper techniques to perform basic body piercings as well as advise on business, permit and supply aspects of the industry so that upon completion of the course students will be ready to begin their careers in body piercing’
tattooing and body piercing involves breaking the skin, and the instruments/tools that penetrate the skin MUST be sterile, or you are putting yourself (or your customers) at risk of developing severe infections, injury or possibly (in the worst cases) death
“These sites could be operated by questionable individuals with little or no experience or credentials for the equipment they are selling…”
“No matter what your reasoning, make sure you get your body piercings from a professional that uses sterile body piercing supplies and has all required certifications and permits to pierce legally in the county he/she operates in…”
Many novice home piercers purchase piercing kits from inferior sellers that either do not include sterile body jewelry, instructions or aftercare guidelines.
Make sure the body piercing kit you choose has sterile body jewelry included. If you are not sure if the body jewelry offered is sterilized or not, ask before you buy
Besides including sterile piercing needles, sterile tools, and sterile body jewelry, a body piercing kit should always include easy to follow instructions either in written form or streaming videos
“Always make sure your body piercer or tattoo artist is using new needles that are pre-sterilized and come out of a package…”
“First, ask to see everything your piercer is going to use for your piercing before they start…”
The first question you should ask is if the piercer is registered and permitted by the local health department. If they are, they will have a health department permit posted in plain sight, along with a permit number you can jot down for verification. If your tattoo artist or piercer gives you the run-around, or says it isn’t with them, they are not registered and you should leave.
