The Pinna Piercing

The Pinna Piercing, also known as a ‘Helix’ piercing is a type of cartilage piercing that is done through the outer rim of the ear, usually in the top portion.  Because this is a cartilage piercing, the pinna requires a longer period to heal and involves more pain than a regular ear lob piercing.

This type of body piercing is quite common and can be done easily, usually without excessive bleeding involved.  It takes between 8 to 12 weeks for this piercing to heal.  Once healed, a variety of body jewelry can be worn, with the popular favorite being a captive bead ring (shown in photo), or segment rings of varying diameters and colors.
